Wisden Cricinfo staff04-Apr-2004Stephen Harmison’s incredible run with the ball in the West Indies – 22 wickets at 11 apiece – has catapulted him to joint third place in the PwC bowling ratings. Only Muttiah Muralitharan and Shaun Pollock are ranked ahead of him, while Shoaib Akhtar shares third place with him.The other England players who improved their rankings significantly after the Barbados Test were Graham Thorpe and Matthew Hoggard. Thorpe gained six places to move up to No. 18 in the batting list, while Hoggard’s 13 wickets in two Tests pushed him up to No. 16.The biggest mover for West Indies was Fidel Edwards. His four wickets in the first innings of the Test was enough to push him up ten places to No. 47. But West Indies’ batting woes are reflected from the fact that after Brian Lara, who just about managed to hang onto fifth place, the next best is Shivnarine Chanderpaul down at No. 27.Top 10 batsmenRankPlayerPoints1Matthew Hayden8812Rahul Dravid8733Ricky Ponting8644Sachin Tendulkar8475Brian Lara8366Jacques Kallis8337Herschelle Gibbs8158Inzamam-ul-Haq7949Virender Sehwag77610Graeme Smith759Top 10 bowlersRankPlayerPoints1Muralitharan9042Shaun Pollock837 3=Shoaib Akhtar819 Steve Harmison8195Shane Warne7776Glenn McGrath7757Anil Kumble7698Jason Gillespie7469Makhaya Ntini72210Daryl Tuffey673Click here for the complete ratings.
