Arsenal's Beth Mead says there were days where she and partner Vivianne Miedema could have "ripped each other’s head off" during their injury rehabs.

Arsenal team-mates and couple Miedema and Mead spent the best part of a year recovering from anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Both have now returned to action but the duo were forced to miss the 2023 World Cup for Netherlands and England respectively. Now, they have spoken about their time on the sidelines together.

Mead told : “There were moments we embraced and enjoyed but there were also days where we could have ripped each other’s head off because we were both having a bad day and it didn’t work well together. We’ve done pretty well to keep ourselves level and above water. I couldn’t have got through that process without the support of Viv [Miedema]."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The talismanic duo have been at Arsenal since 2017 and their injuries were keenly felt by the Gunners. With both of them back in the fold, the north London side are primed to kick on from last season where they came third in the Women's Super League and won the League Cup.
